Spanish Day Celebration –
Learning a foreign language is like opening the door of a treasure ¬ box: discovering a new culture, making friends on another side of Globe and actually getting a sense of the cliché term GLOBAL VILLAGE. More so in the case of Spanish since it is a widely spoken language in the world.
SVJCT’s English Medium School encourages students to learn Spanish at a very early age, i.e. around 8+ years age and continue till they are in school till the age of 15/16 years. The syllabus is formed differently for different age groups. Spanish Language Learning is mostly conversational till the age of 10 years where emphasis is on the primary skills of a language: speaking and listening. The secondary skills like reading and writing are introduced later along with the grammar and verbs (the most complicated topic for Spanish Language Learners).
Hence, the Spanish Day Celebration also had a hierarchy in the content of presentation i.e. Nursery rhymes, Festival / celebration songs, Simple conversation (greetings etc.) from young Spanish Language Learners and Dances, Skits, Speeches from teen Spanish Language Learners.
There was also a PPT presentation which covered the following topics in nut shell: List of Spanish speaking countries; Their flag, currency, national emblem, etc.; Their costumes; Festivals; Royalty and its details to bring in historic, geographic and socio-economic facts of Spain and Spanish speaking countries.
Spanish Day Celebration was blessed by a very eminent personality in the field of education Mrs. Archana Bakshi who encouraged Spanish Language Learners with her experienced background and cheered the atmosphere explicitly.
